Fight off Viral Infections with EZC Pak #ad

The CDC reports that this year is going to be one of the worst flu seasons ever and has declared an epidemic. Unfortunately, this year’s flu vaccine does not protect against H3N2, the dominant flu strain spreading aggressively across the country. As antibiotics do not work for viruses, treatment options remain limited.  People must provide their immune systems the support needed to clear colds and flu.  Faced with a lack of quality options, Dr. Sarath Malepati, a California physician created the EZC Pak to help families support their immune systems.

The EZC Pak is a 5-day tapered immune support pack composed of organic Echinacea, zinc, and vitamin C.  The EZC Pak was created to reduce inappropriate antibiotic use in order to help preserve the effectiveness of antibiotics when medically necessary.

Every human on the planet gets upper respiratory infections (URIs). It is the most common infection in humans. The average person gets 2-3 a year. 80% of these infections are viral and cannot be treated with antibiotics, which only treat bacterial infections. Yet a recent CDC study found that US physicians and health care providers prescribe 258 million outpatient antibiotic prescriptions annually, averaging a rate of over 8 antibiotic prescriptions for every 10 people. A subsequent WebMD survey found that a staggering 95% of prescribers admit to writing for antibiotics when unclear they are necessary. Resistance rates have now increased 15-25% for certain conventional antibiotics used commonly for bacterial infections, leading to 2 million drug-resistant infections in the US annually, resulting in 23,000 deaths. Without behavioral changes to antibiotic usage, it is estimated that global death from drug resistant infections will surpass cancer by 2050.

Still patients suffering from URIs commonly request antibiotics from their physician.  Given their limited options, providers often feel pressured to prescribe antibiotics for viral URIs when they are not necessary. Some physician groups even recommend writing antibiotic prescriptions for viral URIs to satisfy the patient request and then discouraging them from filling their prescriptions. This is less than ideal and is the call to action behind EZC Pak’s development.  The EZC Pak is physician formulated based on the best available evidence in its core components to provide safe, tangible, and concrete guidance for those in need of immune support.  The EZC Pak is not intended to be a substitute or replacement for prescription drugs or antibiotics when deemed medically necessary.

“It’s clear that we’re approaching a cliff with antibiotic resistance…Clinicians and health care systems need to improve prescribing practices. And patients need to recognize that there are both risks and benefits to antibiotics — more medicine isn’t best; the right medicine at the right time is best.”

- Tom Frieden, MD, MPH, Director of the CDC
