Mom Bloggers are Arrogant

Did that capture your attention? I am not trying to cause controversy by writing this however, I welcome comments. I have been blogging for six years now and have had this thought in the back of my head for about four years.  Last week my theory was confirmed.

"Mom Bloggers," or "Mommy Bloggers," is kind of a vague term given to moms that blog.  We only have two things in common; we have kids and we blog.  What we blog about, how long we have been blogging, the number and ages of our kids, and who we are as individuals are different and unique.

An arrogant person is someone having or revealing an exaggerated sense of one's own importance or abilities.  Mommy bloggers are very opinionated and most of them believe that they are always right.  After what happened last week I learned that they believe that their blog is better than any other mommy blog out there.  Please understand I do not believe that every single mom blogger is arrogant but a good number of them are.

This is the new mommy blogger attitude, "I have a great blog. My opinions are the best and I have over 1,000 readers and social media followers. I don't need to be recognized by other mommy bloggers because I already know that I am the best."

This is what led me to this conclusion.  I decided because I have been blogging for six years now and believe that I have a pretty decent following that I would start recognizing some of my favorite blogs.  I spent all day writing this, Best Health and Fitness Blogs for Moms. It took me all day because I researched and looked at hundreds of Mom blogs that write about health and fitness and narrowed it down to ten.

After I wrote that post I e mailed every single one of those bloggers letting them know that I featured them.  I did not get a single comment or e mail reply from any of them.  Although, after visiting their sites I noticed that they have links to other mom blogging communities, but not mine.  And my blog has been online longer than the ones that they have linked to on their front page. I guess it doesn't matter how long you have been online any more in the mom blogging world.

Arrogance is my biggest pet peeve and I try so hard not to be arrogant. I do believe that I have a wonderful blog and fairly large following but I don't flaunt it.  Also, if someone e mailed me saying that I was featured on their site, no matter how large or small the site is, I would at least take the time to reply to their e mail.

I was planning on running a whole series featuring different mom blogs for 2014, but after this trial run I am having second thoughts. Those ten bloggers are just too good for me.
